Wimpods are a species of isopod indigenous to the shallow seas around the Alola Region of the Pokémon World, notable for their extremely cowardly behavior. Considered to be Bug/Water Types, they are very skittish and will be spooked by any noise or sudden movement, indicating that they are near the bottom of the food chain. Even when in large groups, Wimpods will immediately flee if startled, spitting out a stinky, poisonous liquid that signals other Wimpods that danger is near.

Being detritivores, they will eat and store anything that they can find and stuff into their mouths along the ground or seafloor. As this means that they will scavenge any garbage found, the Alola inhabitants regard them highly as natural custodians. However, this also means that they can sometimes wind up carrying valuable items such as pearls, and as such both Humans and certain Pokémon such as Murkrows have been known to target them.

Despite extreme cowardice in every other aspect, a Wimpod will approach a Human or another Pokémon should it remain still long enough. Caught Wimpods have been known to exhibit abilities such as Wimp Out, and are known to utilize Struggle Bug in combat.
