The White Chocobo is an amelanistic form of Chocobo. The colour is thought to rise from one of the following:
- Living in an Arctic-esque habitat, or
- Genetical mutations
Despite common belief, these appear to not be a specific species but a type of variant or subspecies of various Chocobo species found throughout the galaxy, notable by the sometimes drastically different physiology of Chocobo that have been placed on different worlds: Vana'diel Chocobos are starkly different than those found on Gaia, and Ivalice has at least three separate genuses.
Abilities[]
White Chocobo are magical creatures that are versed in white magic. This allows some of their kind to cast spells such as Esuna, Esunada, and Raise spells. Other White Chocobo have been known to utilize abilities such as Choco Barrier, Choco Cure, Choco Esuna, and Choco Recharge. They are known in various regions to restore the mana of those that can successfully catch them.
