A werewolf or lycanthrope (Homo sapiens lycanthropus (Scientific Name) Canus lupus sapiens (Colloquial name) is a human with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf (or a therianthropic hybrid lupine creature), either because of being under a curse or through affliction. Lycanthropic transformation usually occurs at night under a full moon, though some werewolves are able to transform at will.
