Vacuum Mouths, also known as Death Balls, are a sessile, subterranean organism of unknown evolution, although their spherical physiology and sucking in organisms mindlessly seem to hint at them being a tunicate. They feed indiscriminately, creating a strong vacuum to suck in any other organism in the area. Despite this, they seem to be magically connected to the dungeons in which they exist, as Link reported that being sucked in dragged him to the back of a dungeon in a manner similar to a Wallmaster or Floormaster; as other species sucked in during these same attacks would not be found at the entrance as well, this may indicate that a Vacuum Mouth will expel adventurers in this manner as possibly inedible.
Some Vacuum Mouths were known to exhale instead of inhale, perhaps as a form of defense. They can inhale or exhale for a mere five-seconds at a time, but this seems to do the trick for them. Link successfully slew these through the use of his Pegasus Boots.
As Koholint Island is simply a dream state created by the sleeping Wind Fish, upon its awakening the island completely ceased to exist, thus causing this species - and all other species exclusive to the island - to go extinct.
