The Spike Spider is a creature well known for dropping on their prey. It is closely related to the Alert Spider and Wasp Spider, and more distantly related to the Blade Scorpion. Despite being called "spiders" they have only four legs.
Perhaps the smallest member of the spider family, it is swifter than most thanks to its strong legs. The SpikeSpider is a pack hunter, and in groups they will surround their prey and attack from all directions simultaneously. They jump and cling to its prey, biting away with exceptional persistence until either shaken off or well fed.
The creature is first encountered by Sphinx in the Heliopolis Desert where some can be found to chase Sphinx down on foot while others hang from overhead and wait to get walked into.
Using a Capture Beetle, Sphinx captures on of these creatures and takes it to the Abydosian Museum, where he donates it to the curator who then places it on display with numerous other monsters of the deserts.
