The Skoff (Kampisae besa) are a species found in No Man's Sky on Thiaseuris-Ulgan Jeppj in the Euclid Galaxy.
Description[]
Skoffs are a species of calciback indigenous to the planet Thiaseuris-Ulgan Jeppj, first discovered by the Loranche explorer Somarinoa in 3417. They are found in vast herds covering large swathes of the planet. They are so named for their appearance, which looks like they've turned their nose up at others. They subsist on oxide elements found in the vegetation and will even lick minerals and the pseudoleaves of Thiaseuris palateworms to get what they need. Because they are so often predated upon, they have a defensive nature. Their genders are hard to tell apart simply by viewing them until the females are carrying young, which are birthed early and crawl onto her back where they form calcified oothecas while they mature.

Somarinoa landed on the arctic planet Thiaseuris-Ulgan Jeppj on August 30, 3417 on his journey between making a pact with the primitive Dauenolasters of Dauenolaste and Aberskyvinda-Unbu, the latter of which would soon after become the original headquarters for the Orfen Fleet. Somarinoa left the planet behind a few days later on September 2, 3417 and the planet has not been studied since. However, the Euclid Galaxy has gone through two devastating extinction events since then. Korvax scientists in the area have indicated predictive calculations that the Skoff have gone extinct, but no further study has yet been green lit.
