Riflsaks (Rirufusakku inishienomori) are a species of vampire grass endemic to the Ancient Forest of Gaia. Being opportunistic hematophages, they likely feed on the Epiolnises that occasionally stalk through them hunting their own prey and perhaps even the Diablos which appear to be the area's apex predator. It is assumed by their physiology that neither Epiolnises nor Diablos feed upon Riflsaks and thus their predators are not known.

Although they are not able to deliver particularly dangerous attacks, they immediately attempt to go for a target's eyes with a technique referred to by sapients as "Autumn Leaves", which can cause temporary blindness allowing the Riflsaks to better feed on their opponents unabated. Not only this but their thin bodies can make them hard to hit in combat and thus adventurers are advised to use magical attacks to bring them down instead, due to less need to aim.

X-Potions can be made from their remains—presumably their sap, or simply a mashing of their pulpy body.

Etymology[]

The enemy's name is likely intended to be "Leaf Suck", however the kana is incorrect. Without context, "rilf" would be an appropriate translation of リルフ (rirufu), however given the enemy's appearance it is more likely (リーフ, rīfu, lit. leaf) was their intention.

"Sak" is a valid contextless translation of サック (sakku), however that katakana would apply to the real English words "sac", "sack", and "suck". In the case of this enemy, "suck" is more likely given its blood-sucking themed ability.
