Nidoran is a species of Poison type Pokémon that resembles a mouse. The two genders in-game are listed as individual species; however this is faulty as really, they're the same species.
Biology[]
Males have longer ears and are purple, as well as a rhino-like horn, which the females lack. Female Nidoran also have a pale blue color, and short barbs.
Reproduction[]
Despite being rodents, they lay eggs like all members of the Pokémon collective of organisms. Nidoran in particular belongs to the Monster and Field egg groups, meaning they can only breed with their own species, or other species within the same egg groups.
Life Cycle[]
The male evolves into Nidorino and the female into Nidorina, both evolve at level 16. Both of which evolve into Nidoking and Nidoqueen respectively when exposed to a Moon Stone. In their final stages of life, they gain an additional type, which is Ground, though for whatever reason, the females become infertile as Nidorina and Nidoking, while the males remain fertile as Nidorino and Nidoking. This could be an evolutionary measure to avoid overpopulation of this species.
