Netch are a species of domestic jellyfish native to Morrowind and Solstheim. In Morrowind, Netch are often domesticated and raised for their meat and jelly. They can be dangerous because their flesh is poisonous, and their tentacles contain nematocysts powerful enought to be felt as throb on the skin from leather made months after the creature's death.
Netch float on internal sacks of magical gas, and are thus one of the only jellyfish to not live underwater. Although male "Bull" netch are larger than the female "Betty" netch, and sometimes possess more powerfull toxins, the latter can be provoked into aggression more easily. They are usually peaceful but can be defensive of their territory, particularly during breeding season. While feral Betties usually keep a group of several Bulls, herders often keep the female-male ratio low for faster breeding. Some wild families appeared in Solstheim in the Fourth Era, perhaps drawn by the familiar flora that had grown up in the southern ashlands following the Red Year.
