Mantises are absolutely massive mantises indigenous to Axeoth. They are extremely fast for their size, able to move and strike faster than most other lifeforms. Like other mantises, they possess grasping, spiked forelegs known as raptorial legs which can be used to bind potential meals—unlike other mantises, however, this Mantis can bind seemingly anything, including Dragons. Although a bound foe can still strike back, they are significantly weakened due to the grip of the Mantis.
Mantises are communal creatures, unlike their smaller brethren, and are often found within huge mantis nests together. Although dangerous, they are not as strong as other comparable species and heroes purchasing them will find them to be quite expensive. They are also known to be overpowered through the use of magic, which is a significant con in the heat of battle.
Shortly after the destruction of Enroth following the Reckoning caused by the clash of Armageddon's Blade and the Blade of Frost, the Preserve nations utilized Mantises to war with their foes; although the nests were apparently too large to keep within their towns, the creatures were able to be found through the use of creature portals.
