Koopa Troopas (Cupachelys turma) are the most common species of koopa. A special adaptation they have is a detachable shell and wearing shoes. For whatever reason, koopa troopas with green shells walk off the edges of cliffs, while red-shelled ones turn around when they come to an edge, possibly indicating that the red ones have a higher degree of intelligence.

Biology[]

It is a bipedal tortoise creature that can be identified by its yellow skin, rounded beak and habit of wearing shoes. Etymology[]

The word "Koopa" is likely derived from "Kappa", a mythological humanoid turtle-like creature from Japanese folklore, which would make sense for a creature that is basically an anthropomorphic turtle.
