Gumshoos are a species of mongoose related to other mongooses, dwarf mongooses, kusimanses, and meerkats, found in the Alola Region of the Pokémon World though they are an introduced and invasive species from another region — however that region is not specified. They are considered to be Normal Types.

Lifecycle[]

Yungoos[]

Yungoos

A juvenile Gumshoos, known as a Yungoos.

Immediately upon being born, young Gumshoos are known as Yungoos. Significantly smaller in size (1'04" long instead of 2'04" tall, and 13.2 lbs instead of 31.3 lbs), its stomach takes up most of its long torso and as such, it wanders around in a never-ending search for food. With its sharp fangs, it will bite anything. Although it will eat anything, it prefers fresh living things, so it marches down streets in search of prey. At dusk, it collapses from exhaustion and falls asleep on the spot. It's a big eater, so the amount Trainers have to spend on its food is no laughing matter. It did not originally live in Alola but was imported from another region.

Gumshoos[]

Once a young Yungoos has grown strong enough it will become a mature individual, where it becomes formally known as a Gumshoos. Still considered to be Normal Types and Incredibly patient by nature, this Pokémon loses control of itself and pounces when it spots its favorite meal—Rattata! It adores having Rattata and Raticate for dinner, and when it finds a trace of its prey, it patiently stakes out the location...but as it's diurnal, it never encounters them because it's always snoozing by nightfall.

Although it wasn't originally found in Alola, this Pokémon was brought over a long time ago when there was hi a huge Rattata outbreak.

Trivia[]

  • The Yungoos and its evolved form the Gumshoos were introduced in Generation VII.
