Godzillasaurus (not to be confused with the now real-life Gojirasaurus) is, despite it's name, the last surviving species of synapsid, which has reached an enormous size for it's group. The species was critically endagered, as only 2 specimens were ever uncovered, an adult on Lagos island in 1944 and a juvenile in 1994, with both of these specimens ultimately being mutated into Godzillas, making the species as functionally extinct.

Biology[]

This genus is a very large basal synapsid, which can be deduced from the shape of it's mouth and head, mammalian-like teeth teeth, aswell as the kangaroo like posture. It is however an extremely derived synapsid, being bipedal, aswell as having multiple strange osteoderms on it's back, almost resembling miniature Stegosaur plates. These osteoderms are the largest on newly hatched Godzillasaurus, suggesting they may actually be a defensive feature, that overtime atrophies as they grow older. Each of it's front arms has 3 fingers adorned with claws, while it's feet have 3 primary toes with a additonal toe claw.In adulthood, it has pinkish skin, but younger individuals are more bluish in color. Young Godzillasaurus have fairly noticable mammalian like ears, but these are barely noticable on adults.

Behaviour[]

Godzillasaurus are highly territorial animals, and will aggresively pursue anything that comes into their territory. Said territories will typically be the whole island on which they reside, being the top predators of their food chain. It's suspected that while larger animals, perhaps other synapsids, may have resided on these isles, they have all seemingly gone extinct, resulting in the slow extinction of Godzillasaurus due to the dissapearance of their main food source. Godzillasaurus are caring parents, with one of the parents typically always caring for their eggs while the other hunts. After the baby hatches, they will take care of it until it reaches adulthood, where it will seperate from it's parents. Unfortunately, with the decline of the Godzillasaurus population, many eggs were left defenseless, becoming an easy meal for other animals.
