The Galapa are a species of ancient sapient Turtloids hailing from an excluded island of the planet Diakatan. Very intelligent (as much of their shell actually houses their brain), they gather their information over the course of a thousand years or so, giving them a relatively long lifespan. However, due to direct intervention by their far more devious cousins, the Kooparri, their populations have dwindled over the centuries due to tactical attacks on
their young until nearly all survivors are ancient and nearing the end of their natural lives. In a desperate attempt to save their kind, they have begun searching for a mystical lake that is infused with massive amounts of magical energy as well as being a weak point in the chronological continuum, which would allow them to literally reverse their aging process so long as they were in the waters. So far their explorers have not been returning, however; then again, they are incredibly slow. While bipedal they are stooped, especially in old age where they barely remain off the ground. Galapa tribes are led by their scholar-mages, known as their Palagos.
Eventually, a subspace anomaly in the spacetime continuum and the dimensional barrier allowed species from a number of universes and planets to be brought to Earth, leading to an inadvertent invasion. Galapas were amongst the species brought in through the warps, though they were not aggressive and were incredibly slow-moving. While some were definitely killed in the confusion, others were simply used by more clever would-be heroes as stepping stones and the like to get to otherwise unreachable places.
