Fungal peppers are a species of bush-sized fungus, seen as background yet scannable specimens in the 2021 game, The Gunk. They can be collected for use as construction materials.
Description[]
Fungal peppers are named for the fruitbodies that emerge from the main body on long, tall stalks, superficially resembling peppers. It is a multitude of colors, perhaps to better lure in potential pollinators.
It is mostly composed of mannose, glucose, and galactose. Like other floral organisms on their home planet, if the encounter Gunk then they with and enter a dormant state until the infection in the area is systematically removed.
In-game usage[]
Fungal peppers can be found in areas around the game world, often in corners or upon ledges, with tall, pepper-like fruitbodies. When the player uses the vacuum attachment on their cybernetic arm, they can pick these organisms from the ground. They will burst into organic compounds which are only noticeable if the player turns off their vacuum as soon as they are destroyed; otherwise they will instead enter the arm and net the player +1 fiber material for use in upgrades for the arm.
