Eliminators are an infraspecies of mutated bio-organic weapons produced by the Umbrella Corporation at their training facility in the Arklay Mountains.
Physiology[]
When selecting what species to focus on for testing the t-Virus strain upon, Dr. James Marcus focused on different genera of creatures as potential test subjects, starting with amphibians in the form of frogs; mammals in the form of primates; and a chimera hybridization of several genera of insects, using dragonflies as the base organism. When selecting a primate to use, it appears Marcus went with the Japanese Macaque, also known as the Snow Monkey.
After administering the t-Virus, Eliminators initially do not suffer from brain damage that was later found in human subjects, and were shown to be able to follow basic commands. They were found to have also experienced rapidly-increased muscle development, leading to cracked skin. However, the muscle increase was not significant enough to cover the price point and their intelligence was found to diminish over time, perhaps as the t-Virus continued to saturate their body.
Background history[]
The Eliminators were developed under the eye of Dr. James Marcus' at the Umbrella Corp. training facility and were first produced sometime between 1978 and 1988 after the Progenitor Virus had been enhanced into the t-Virus. They were developed during the same time period as the Lurkers and Plague Crawlers.
Though initial tests were deemed successful it was later realized that their intellectual capacities had been significantly diminished through the administering of the t-Virus; as this was intended to be their greatest asset as candidates for the B.O.W. program they were then deemed another failure. Mass production was canceled and the specimens were destroyed with the exception of a handful that were kept in the facility for further testing and general research. It was their failure as test subjects that made Dr. Marcus begin consideration of humans as the only proper test subject which would later lead to the creation of zombies and by extension, Lickers and Tyrants.
When Dr. William Birkin and Dr. Albert Wesker instigated the Queen Leech to attack, STARS officer Rebecca Chambers and 2nd Lieutenant Billy Coen got caught in the ensuing crossfire and the Queen Leech released the Eliminators to deal with these two other intruders into her facility though these had become exhausted and weakened by negligence and hunger, leaving them to not be at their full potential. Those Eliminators that were not put down by the duo were mostly eradicated when Birkin activated the facility's self-destruct sequence to kill the Queen, though some were packed up and moved outside the structure. Some were encountered by Tyler Hamilton and Naomi McClain during the Raccoon City Destruction Incident later that same year, while others were held at the Russian Umbrella Facility where they were released in 2003 by Sergei Vladimir to stop anti-Umbrella forces; these were also subsequently eliminated. It is not known if any more specimens exist in the world.
