Diamond Chickens (Gallus adamantem) is a species of junglefowl indigenous to the Minecraft Overworld, now believed to be critically endangered or extinct. They are closely related to chickens.
Like Golden Geese, Diamond Chickens are known to lay items valuable to mankind. In the case of this species, they are known to lay both diamonds and lapis lazuli in inclusion to their typical eggs. It is not known how they produce these items, though they may also just eat them and be unable to digest them, thus eventually excreting them instead. If this is the case, Diamond Chickens must spend a good deal of time in deep caverns to locate these minerals in the first place. Those who domesticated Diamond Chickens for diamond and lapis lazuli production reported that they produced these minerals at a much slower rate than Chickens and Golden Geese produce their eggs.
For unknown reasons, aggravated Diamond Chickens explode.
