Crabominable are a species of crab, indigenous to the Alola Region of the Pokémon world. They are considered to be Fighting Types as juveniles and mature to also include Ice Type physiology.

Lifecycle

Crabominables are a species that has gone through neoteny, and most members will never reach true maturity, staying as juvenile Crabrawlers for their entire lives. Crabrawlers require freezing cold temperatures to instigate metamorphosis to reach their true adult forms, known as Crabominables. As they are native to the Alola archipelago, this generally consists of them climbing Mount Lanakila, though they do not do so purposely.

Physiology

Crabrawler

Crabrawler

Juveniles are known as Crabrawlers.

These large crabs have a pair of glove-like pincers, giving them a resemblance to an old school prizefighter. While fighting, they swing their fists before striking. They are known for using one of two varieties of combat: Those who use Hyper Cutter, which prevents their attacks from being weakened by opponents; and those who instead use Iron Fist, which boosts the power of their Fighting type moves. They are presumed to use elemental punches such as Ice Punch, Fire Punch, and Thunder Punch.

These crabs are herbivorous, and prefer to eat berries out of local trees. Although they could certainly climb up these trees, they instead prefer to punch the trunk to shake the branches and drop ripe berries onto the ground for it to feast upon. Despite their small size their punches are powerful enough to split tree trunks.

Crabominable

As Crabrawlers mature, they continue to aim for the top. Certain members will get lost in the process and end up in the snowy environs of Mount Lanakila. It is here where they are forced to endure the cold that will instigate their metamorphosis into a truly matured form referred to Crabominable.

This metamorphosis causes them to grow fur and gain a shocking increase in mass, growing in height up to 3'7" more and gaining upwards of 381.4 lbs, presumably mostly muscle.

Behavior

Crabrawler

Crabrawlers are sore losers and are driven not only to aim for a higher position than others of its kind in terms of social standing, but will literally aim for higher positions in the landscape as well, in a sort of "king of the hill" mentality. As an extension of this, they can sometimes be found clinging to tall people or even to the walls of buildings in urban areas.

They are aggressive, which attempt to removing one from a wall or person against its will will result in being met with a good, solid punch. Should several Crabrawlers gather around a berry-laden tree, they will battle one another until one emerges victorious for the privilege to eat the ripe berries that have dropped. During these fights they will use their claws to protect their face and belly from the strikes of opponents while trying to get in close to throw their own punches. Sometimes during these bouts their pincers might get torn off but they will eventually regenerate.

Those pincers found by people are often cooked, and are said to be delicious.

Crabominable

Before it stops to think, it just starts pummeling its foes by throwing punches indiscriminately. It stores coldness in its pincers and can even smash thick walls of ice to bits! In times of desperation, it can lop off its own pincers and fire them like rockets. There are records of its turning back avalanches with a flurry of punches.
