The Cheep Chomp is a species of large, carnivorous Cheep Cheep (a type of Bass) originating from the waters surrounding the Mushroom Kingdom region, as well as several other nearby kingdoms.
Their names are sometimes interchangeably used with Bubbas, but the vast differences in physiology indicate that these are likely two separate species.
Physiology[]
The Cheep Chomp is a large, normally purple-scaled Bucktooth Cheep big enough to swallow a man whole. It will relentlessly chase the next prey-thing it notices, and only moves on after consumption, a very determined animal. It is somewhat distinguished by its large turquoise dorsal fin; however under unknown conditions Cheep Chomps are known to possess a more typical Cheep Cheep coloration, having a red body and yellow dorsal and caudal fins. When this occurs they are difficult to differentiate from less dangerous large Cheep Cheeps.
While Cheep Cheeps often have enlarged lip-like structures along their mouths, those in Cheep Chomps are particularly pronounced. These seemingly protect their large bucktooth from being damaged.
They are notably fine with both saltwater and freshwater environments, and while they are normally found in coastal waters (and presumably in the open ocean given both their size and their widely-spread habitation zone), they have been known to swim upriver.
As with other Cheep Cheep species, it is assumed that Cheep Chomps are mouthbrooders, though no direct evidence of this has been recorded.
A former theory suggested the Cheep Chomp must constantly eat to keep itself alive, however studies show that it will just swim until something comes into sight.
