Spumes are a collection of Hyrulean salamanders whose rotund, rounded bodies make them superficially resemble rain frogs. The species are recognized by their poor eyesight, large lips, short lobed tail, and ability to spit projectiles at prey items to knock them into their environment of choice. True Spumes have their eyes growing on short eyestalks that allow them to hide below the surface and still watch for prey. Some are fully aquatic while others live on land in their adult life; still others are desert sandswimmers or extremophiles that live in lava or magma. Some members are mistakenly referred to as toads.
