Myriapods are a group of arthropods consisting of arthropleurideans, centipedes, millipedes, pauropods, and symphylans. Although their name suggests they have myriad (10,000) legs, myriapods range from having up to 750 legs (the millipede Illacme plenipes) to having fewer than ten legs.
Myriapods have a single pair of antennae and, in most cases, simple eyes though some possess well-developed compound eyes. In media, like many species with alternate eye styles, they are often represented with more human-like eyes.
