Hidden-Necked Turtles (Suborder Cryptodira) are a group of turtles that include most living tortoises and turtles. Unlike side-necked turtles, hidden-necked turtles can lower their neck and pull their head straight back into their shells to protect it, rather than to folding the neck sideways along the shell's marginals.
Types of hidden-necked turtles include freshwater turtles, sea turtles, softshell turtles, snapping turtles, and tortoises.
