Dryptocephalans (meaning "Wounding Head") are a group of tripediornids belonging to the superfamily dryptocephalus. They are endemic to the planet Vuunega, and are one of the main groups of tripediornids on the planet, alongside the browserbeaks, probills and bladeskirts. The dryptocephalans are differentiated by their weaponized skulls, adapted towards either defense or offense depending upon the species.
Dryptocephalans are cosmopolitan, found the world over in various forms, though they are most often found in grassland, beach, and desert biomes where their weaponized beaks can be used to the greatest effect.
The best-known Dryptocephalans are the Skullbeaks and Slayerbeaks.
