Clackers are a group of butchertooths belonging to the family clackenostidae (which includes true clackers and their closest relatives) and even more closely, the genus clackenosteus (the true clackers themselves). They are endemic to the planet Vuunega, and generally serve as apex predators in the areas they are located.
Clackers are all viciously aggressive, uncontrollably gluttonous and entirely opportunistic. Oftentimes in direct rivalry with various species of stalkers, they tend to survive by simple way of just how opportunistic they are, including well-documented cases of cannibalism. As a whole they are slow swimmers but can open their mouths so fast that it creates a vacuum that will suck prey into their mouths for them.
Highly territorial, their names stem from their ability to rapidly clack their jaws together to produce an audible sound in order to warn trespassers of their coming and going. When actively hunting a clacker will fall silent.
The best-known Clackers are the Green Clackers.
