Other information |
Bruxish are a species of triggerfish indigenous to the shallow seas around the Alola Region of the Pokémon World, notable for their burrowing behavior and psionic capabilities. Considered to be Water/Psychic Types, their psionic abilities originate from a protuberance growing out of their head, which emits psychic power strong enough that when its opponents are bathed in its power, they're stricken with terrible headaches and fall unconscious. A tic in using this power is that the Bruxish will grind its teeth loudly while the psychic emanations are in use. Upon hearing this teeth gnashing, nearby Pokémon will be alerted to the danger and immediately flee en masse to the safety of another location.
Being Triggerfish, their diet presumably is made up of slow-moving bottom-dwellers such as crustaceans, mollusks, sea urchins and other echninoderms, as well as potentially algae, small fishes, and even possibly plankton.
As a whole, they appear to prefer to burrow into the sandy seafloor instead of actively swimming about most of the time, and will dig a hole large enough so that only their protuberance will remain exposed. This is used as a form of radar against predators and prey, emitting low-level psychic power until it is necessary to exert more force. Because of their abilities, local Human lifeguards allow Bruxish colonies to remain in recreational swimming areas as a form of natural deterrent against more dangerous water-based Pokémon that may gather in the area in their stead.
Caught Bruxish have been known to exhibit abilities such as Dazzling or Strong Jaw, and are known to utilize Psywave in combat.
