- The odd thing about the Mapinguari is that while drawings depict it as having one eye and a mouth on its stomach, the actual witnesses say it looks normal with two eyes and a mouth on its head. So perhaps it has a false mouth, as in mouth-like markings on its stomach. Possibly to scare away predators.
