The Army Ants make up the bulk of the Voracious Centipede's forces, patrolling the Vale of Tears. They are also found guarding Bill McGill's home, which is at that time overtaking by the Queen of Hearts' ugly cousin, The Duchess. All Army Ants that Alice Liddel encountered have been red; it is unknown if there is a second type to cover the black variety. As a whole, their species as acidic, green-hued blood that will injure anyone who steps on it once it has been spilled from their bodies.
Army Ants wear 18th Century-themed military uniforms, which makes perfect sense as Alice Liddel lives during the late 1800s, with regular soldiers wearing blue uniforms and their corporals wearing green.
They would appear to be related, albeit somewhat distantly, to the Origami Ants, and likewise would be related to the Samurai Wasps, as well, though certainly more distantly. It is unknown if they possess any physical relation to the Antlions of the Fungiferous Forest.
Bluecoats[]
The general infantry of the Army Ants (referred to here as "Bluecoats") wield bayoneted muskets and will fire upon threats to the Centipede's cause when they enter the Ants' range. They are not well-trained in hitting moving targets, hitting a still target 75% of the time but a moving one only 40% of the time. Despite possessing bayonets and certainly utilizing them in close combat conditions, they are not beyond biting a foe with their huge mandibles instead. Not being particularly strong and durable, they are known to flee from combat on occasion.
Greencoats[]
The corporals of the army wear green uniforms to visually segregate them from their units, indicating that, despite being based upon a smell-oriented species on Earth, in Wonderland Ants use visual cues. Being of higher rank, they are naturally stronger (perhaps possessing armored uniforms) and flee less often than their lower-ranked counterparts. Instead of carrying a musket, they also carry a signal saber to slice into foes (and, like many armies of the day, likely signal to orders their troops). They also carry grenades which obviously deal significantly more damage to a target than a simple musket ball but also have a far shorter range, only allowing them the distance that they can personally throw the items. Apparently Wonderland Ants are not capable of lifting 50x their own weight.
