Arbok are large cobras that are designated to be Pokémon and found in grassy savannahs and plains which evolve from an Ekans. They keep their bodies upright and are notable for their large hoods with a pattern that is commonly described as resembling an angry face.
Behavior & Biology[]
Although they are not constrictors, they can still coil around a foe and crush them with enough force to flatten a steel oil drum. They are territorial creatures and will lash out at intruders with their long fangs; combined with their vengeful nature that makes them unwill to give up a chase once it has chosen a target no matter the distance traveled, they are deadly -- especially considering their deadly venom.
Arboks are known for their regional subspecies differentiation, with six known variations being recorded thus far. These are defined by the design on the fronts and backs of their hoods. The most common subspecies have a pattern that appears as a red and yellow eyespot outlined in black, with a wide black streak resembling a mouth and a V-shaped stripe about the face pattern.
In the wild, they are opportunistic and hunt smaller Pokémon that inhabit the region they are found in. It will raise its head and intimidate and immobilize its prey with the frightening pattern emblazoned across its hood, while making eerie sounds expelled through its mouth. Once immobilized, it uses its venomous bite to subdue their victim.
Several unique characters can be found in the Arbok that is not found in other cobra species. For one it has an uncanny regenerative healing factor, and so long as its head is still intact, it can regrow any missing portion of its body in a matter of weeks. They can also spend extended periods of time underwater and are able to survive in aquatic environs as well. Although many snakes are believed to be deaf and use vibrations to detect prey instead, Arboks are able to hear commands and respond to them, though they still possess the vibration detection ability. One particular Arbok was also able to change its hood pattern at will in order to increase power to different stats and get invulnerability to status conditions, if the pattern is uncovered.
Life Cycle[]
Arbok start out life in an oddly rattlesnake-like form known as "Ekans" and remain in this form until reaching level 22.
Name Origin[]
Arbok's name backwards is 'kobrA', roughly 'cobra', the animal it is.
